720p + iMovie For iPhone = Win For Ministry

The new iPhone was announced earlier this week by Apple, and I for one am very excited by the possibilities that this new device will have for Ministry.

2 of the features that were announced by Apple were a 720p (HD) video camera, and a new iMovie app.

High Def video looks great. Example, view this YouTube video that I made in full screen and make sure that you have it set to 720p.

Looks sharp eh? That’s because there are heaps more pixels in that video, meaning greater detail and more prettiness.

When the new iPhone is out and about in a few months, you will be able to use your phone to make videos of this quality!

Another exciting announcement was the release of iMovie for iPhone, which means that you can edit these movies right on your iPhone, and publish them to YouTube. You’ll be able to get the videos that you make out very very quickly!

I’m imagining people in ministry being able to make a really quick, really high quality videos, whenever they want. These could include leaders sending out videos to group members instead of a long email, or it could mean a very quick advertising video being made, or it could mean a video showing how fun an event was will be that much easier to make. Possibilities!

I’m excited to use these new features, and you’ll be sure to find some iPhone 4 made videos right here at calumhenderson.com in the coming months.

Apple iPhone 4 Product Video

Incase you missed it. Apple announced the new iPhone 4 on Monday, and here’s the video explaining the best of the new features.

Anyone else going to get one when they come out?

Stormtroopers’ 9/11

Here’s a funny video that I watched last month, and I thought I would share it with y’all.

And if you have anything that I can write about, I’d appreciate some ideas. My brain is running quite slowly at the moment. Do have 1 or 2 thoughts about the new iPhone tho.

Present Like Steve Jobs

Today (or tomorrow Australian time), Steve Jobs will be giving one of his famous keynote speeches that will unveil the new iPhone and most probably wow the world.

I found this cool video showing some tips on how to present like Steve Jobs, and I thought it was helpful enough to share with you all.

I was thinking through how to apply these to Bible talks/sermons and would like to hear if anyone else has any thoughts.

Cool Music Animation

I was pretty amazed when I first viewed this in a tute at Uni.

It’s a really fun composition that has been matched to an animation, this animation is based on balls being shot out of pipes at various instruments. And from what I can tell it looks pretty phsyically accurate. But what do I know, watch it for yourself and you will soon be able to see.

Repent! Why? Really?

RepentI’m currently finishing off a talk on repentance for youth group. And I’ve been reading Acts 17. It’s a great passage, and it shows us that God commands us to repent.

The people in Athens at the time are really “religious”, that is they have idols, even one to an unknown God, but they are worshipping their worldly idols, not God. And Paul says:

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Acts 17:30

I can here people in Athens asking the question: “Yeah, well why do I need to repent?”

For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.

Acts 17:31a

“Ok, so that’s why I need to, but really, how is this true?”

He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.

Acts 17:31b

O snap.

I can see pretty clear links between what was happening in Athens to what is happening now. In our world today we have so many idols that we worship: sex, money, power, Facebook, sport, fame, food. Things that we devote our lives to. But God commands us to repent. We need to turn away from this world and towards him.

So three things.

  1. Repent! Turn to God.
  2. Why? Because Jesus is coming back to judge the world.
  3. Really? Yeah, he rose from the dead as proof of this.
