I’m thinking about writing a series of talks for youth group defining tricky Christian jargon.
There are so many big and important words in the Bible, and many teenagers don’t know what a lot of these words mean, or what these words mean for their lives.
So far I’ve thought of a few words that I think are important.
- Sin
- Justified
- Crucified
- Resurrection
- …
What other words can I add to the list?
I want your opinion on this one, let me know what you think are some other important words in the comments sections below. (And if you’re reading this not on calumhenderson.com, please comment here)

At what point was I just being silly?
After about the first 2000 words…
Oh, and sacrifice for a word about Christianity… did you already have that?
And heaven, people! Hell, damned, demon, devil… all that.
@Joel thanks for the input! Very helpful.
@Pat big list! But I don’t know if shema yisrael would be great for youth group kids. That’s probably where you got silly… Maybe before that… Actually, nah, youth group kids definitely need to know about schmuck!
Jesus
and, it, the, to, them, their, this etc. Trying to communicate the gospel without them is very difficult.
I also forgot, for those that are already Christians:
Apologetics = Defense/Answer in 1 Peter 3.15
@Dave Maybe important…
@Piers Definitely good words, but I might not spend a whole week on each of them…
@Patrick A good word for Christians, but yeah, maybe not so great for those who aren’t yet
