This Is Why I Tell People About Jesus

I love them.

If you have ever heard me talking about my faith, or asking people along to church or a Christian event at Uni and thought it was a bit strange, or thought “why doesn’t he just keep that to himself?”  then read on, this post is for you.

Let me give you a senario.

There is a burning house, and inside that house is a man. You see that man and you want to help him, because if you don’t you know he will die. You see an open door, but for some reason the man inside can’t see the door, and so doesn’t know how to get out. Surely you want to yell out and tell that man about the door, and direct him towards it? You want him to live and not die. That is the loving thing to do.

Burning House

This is what it is like for me.

I believe that those who believe in Jesus will inherit eternal life, and that those who don’t believe in him will be punished forever in hell.

I love my friends and people around me, and so I want them to be saved from punishment that we all deserve because we disobey God. I want everyone instead to live forever with God instead. That is why I tell people about Jesus. Not because I want to force my views on them, but because I love them.

If you want to find out more about this then go here, read a Bible, ask me a question or contact me.

Mafia: Game of Sin?

Mafia is a game that many people enjoy playing. Basically involving an assassin, townspeople and mafia (there are variations on this). It’s a game where the townspeople and assassin are on the same side, and are trying to get rid of the mafia, while the mafia are trying to either get rid of the assassin or all of the townspeople. This is done through a process of voting or just plain killing.

One of the key concepts of mafia is deception, and this is the issue that I have with the game. Although lying is not compulsory in mafia, it is often necessary and encouraged. Many people say that it is ok, because it is within the game, and people understand that it is going to happen.

However, the lying in mafia does cause real emotions. People who are lied to, do feel deceived, and this can lead to broken relationships (in part or whole), an effect of real world lying. So in love, can we justify playing this game?

Also, if we are saying that it is acceptable to lie in mafia, is it then ok to introduce sinful ideas to other games. Can we play drinking games to get drunk, and say that they are ok because the drunkenness is within the game? I would say a definite no to that question, and that is why for a number of years I have not played mafia, or any other games that tempt me to lie.

From the bible this week: The Trinity

Three coloursSo I thought that it would be good to have some standard things to blog about, and one of those things is the bible. So here is the first “from the bible this week”.

Recently in bible study we had a week where we talked about the trinity. It was an awesome week and really solidified in my mind the perfect relationships within God. The Father perfectly serves and loves the Son and the Spirit. The Son brings glory to God. The Spirit points to Jesus and the Father. It’s all so awesome and selfless!

This made me think about my own relationships with regards to being humble and thinking of others as better than myself (Phil 2:3). So recently I have been trying to live with perfectly selfless relationships, because they can work!

PS: the picture isn’t actually meant to represent the trinity, more there to look pretty. As I know the trinity cannot really be explained through analogies.
