You might be wondering why I decided to change to a .com address, you can read my thoughts here at my old blog.

Finally, here are some new things around this site that you may find

  • Options to subscribe via RSS and Email in the sidebar with pretty icons
  • A new section on the right sidebar with random posts from the past (great for reading what you may have missed)
  • A list of related posts at the end of each post (great for reading posts on similar topics
  • Options to share each post via a number of social media sites (email, facebook, twitter, delicious, digg and stumbleupon)
  • A new featured content box on the homepage
  • URL shortening to my domain (you’ll only notice this on Twitter and Facebook)
  • A pretty new design
  • A new contact form

Speaking of the contact form. I would love to hear what you think about this new site, so please do contact me.

Delicious

delicious.com is an online bookmarking website (Wikipedia entry).

With delicious, you can save websites for viewing at a later date, and you can also share your bookmarks (my bookmarks). The site has a number of purposes, and here are some reasons why I use delicious.

mmm... cake

  • I can bookmark what I like and easily view it later on, where ever I am.
  • I can share my bookmarks on this blog (on the right under “I’ve been reading…” and in blog summaries)
  • I can receive my bookmarks as an RSS feed (Why use RSS?) which can then be shared on other sites such as automatically on Twitter through Twitterfeed (Although I don’t currently do this)

Delicious bookmarks are easily sharable and many blogs and articles will have this symbol () at the bottom of the page which will allow you to easily share to delicious.

If you like sharing internet sites with people, then delicious is definitely a good thing, and if you have a blog, then sharing through delicious is even easier.

Share the great things you find with others!

Why use RSS?

RSS chairRSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great way to see the news and information that you want to see from the web.

Instead of going and finding new content from your favourite websites, RSS allows that information to come to you! Awesome.

To subscribe to an RSS feed, there is usually a button on a webpage that looks like this RSS icon

If you click on this button, it will usually take you to a page that gives you options on how to subscribe. An easy way to view subscriptions is to use google reader. Which will let you use your google account to view RSS feeds.

You can then simply click on the button to subscribe to the feed, and if there is no button, you can copy the URL and paste it into the “add a subscription” box.

This is a really simple process, and it will allow all of your favourite news and information to come to you!

Why not subscribe to this blog now…
