Some fun: Twitpocalypse

Twitter bird 4Recently, we experienced the Twitpocalypse!

Be very afraid…

Well not really, the only negative outcome of the Twitpocalypse was that some people couldn’t send Tweets through Twitteriffic for about a day.

The Twitpocalypse happened due to the fact that Twitter reached 2,147,483,647 Tweets, which meant that the unique identification number associated with Twitter started going into negative numbers which freaked out some third part applications such as Twitterific. All is better now though.

What does this mean? Well, Twitter is reaching a point where so much is happening on it! The Iranian elections have famously been broadcast using Twitter, and well, a lot of people are getting onto Twitter. Maybe you should to.

(This also  means that some people care too much about Twitter to call this the “Twitpocalypse“)

Maybe you would like to read other things that I have written about Twitter if you have read this far…

4 benefits of 3rd party Twitter applications

Twitter bird 4This is the last post about Twitter for a while after “5 reasons to Tweet” and “How to use Twitter“.

One of Twitter’s great advantages is that it can be used in many different forms. Yes, you can Tweet from the Twitter website. But, there are also tools that allow you to Tweet from many other areas. These take the form of both Desktop clients and mobile clients. You can read about some of them here and here.

iPhones serving God: 5 Free applications

My iPhone and its home screen

My iPhone and its home screen

About a month ago, Steve Kryger wrote an article on Sydney Anglicans about iPhone applications. I’d recommend reading it for some good ideas, I thought I’d share some free applications that help me serve God on my own iPhone.

Bible

This application is great, Steve Kryger mentioned it and I will too. Has helped me many a times when I have forgotten a bible. I also started doing morning quiet times on it for convenience sake. Has the NIV, but you must have access to data to use it.

Twitterific

A great Twitter client for the iPhone, my favourite after the recent upgrade. Greatest new feature is the ability to manage multiple accounts. Great for those of use who have a personal twitter account, as well as managing ones for various ministries, such as churches or Christian groups at uni. Also great to pray for friends if you find yourself with a spare minute.

Scribble Lite

Ever wanted to draw something but don’t have paper around? This application allows you to draw on your iPhone with your finger. Great for demonstrating quick graphs.

WordPress

Why not update your blog from the latest conference that you are on, complete with pictures from your iPhone. That’s the beauty of technology today.

Cube Runner

Cause everyone needs time off. This little 80s game lets you navigate a ship through cubes. Oh so addictive.

So there you have 5 free iPhone applications. Hope you enjoy using them to serve God!
