Free Countdown Videos!

I love countdown videos.

3 reasons why countdowns are awsome

  1. Build suspense for your session
  2. Let people know that there is a definite starting time
  3. Get your audience involved and participating before the session starts (Everyone counts down from 10! Everyone!)

And there is a website at which you can download free countdown movies!

freecountdowns.net is an amazing website at which you can download free countdowns. Some are amazing, and some are not so amazing. But the best part about them all is that they’re free!

There are a whole range of countdowns, some in HD, some that are 30 seconds, some that are 3 minutes.

So for your next youth group session or camp, download one of these movies (MPEG-1 or MPEG-4 format) and use it to build suspense for a session.

Here are a few examples of the countdowns.

What’s a Posterous?

Posterous is an upcoming blogging platform.

“What might be the simplest blogging platform to date… I’m seriously liking posterous.com.”

Michael Arrington, TechCrunch

To create a blog at Posterous, all you need to do is email post[at]posterous[dot]com with a first post. And that’s it. You have your site.

I’ve been using Posterous since November, and here is how I use it (my posterous).

  • I send emails to Posterous with a photo  from my iPhone, and Posterous automatically sends those pictures to Twitter (via a tweet with short URL) and to Facebook (uploading the picture to an album).
  • I send emails to Posterous with a video link (usually form vimeo or youtube), and Posterous sends the video to Twitter (via a tweet with short URL) and to Facebook (where the video is embedded in my feed.

It is so incredibly easy to share photos and videos with those who I am connected with online.

If you want to share videos or photos online via Twitter or Facebook, then sign up for a Posterous account. It’ll serve you well.

If you would like to learn more about Posterous visit their FAQ page, it’s got the goods.

My YouTube Channel

Over the past few years I have been growing my video editing skills. Recently I shared videos from recent study camps (here and here). So here is another video that I did as a review for KYCK 08. If you would like to watch all of the videos that I have made, you can do so at www.youtube.com/DACTproductions

Download YouTube Videos

UPDATE: It’s not legit to download YouTube Videos. View post explaining here.

Have you ever seen a video on YouTube, and wished that you could download it onto your computer?

If this is you, then you should visit keepvid.com!

keepvid.com is a website that allows you to easily download YouTube videos to your computer as a .flv or .mp4 file (.mp4 is best).

Video Tape

Once you have downloaded the video file, you can then use it where ever you like (please don’t use it for profit). I have had success recently using this website to download video’s to use in presentations. This saves me from switching between a browser and the presentation, as well as allowing me to play YouTube videos without an internet connection.

If you save the link below as a bookmark, then whilst viewing a YouTube video at the YouTube site, you can immediately download it by clicking on that bookmark.

javascript:document.location=’http://keepvid.com/?url=’+escape(window.location);

So go and try it out at keepvid.com, download a YouTube video.

Study Camp Videos

One of the things that I did on Study Camp was to edit 7 videos together to show at lunch. These videos included highlights of camp, as well as introducing free time activities such as Warbalz (see video below).

I have been honing my quick video editing skills for a while, and I am pretty happy with how these videos turned out.

I edited each one in iMovie 09, and each one took about 30 minutes to 1 hour to edit.

Videos can be great for a camp, especially for building excitment and community. A lot of people mentioned how much fun the videos were, and let’s face it, the leaders on the camp enjoyed it just as much.

The videos are below for your viewing pleasure (watch out for “in jokes”). Or if you like, you can view the playlist on youtube here.
