PPT Tip #5 | Blue on Black

Blue writing on a black background is nearly impossible to read at the best of times, so please reserve blue text for highlighting links on a white background…

Also, yellow text on a white background is no fun.

And if you ever use a pink background for anything…

Consider good colour choice when designing a PPT presentation. Check out this site for some hints.

Have you seen any other colours that have hurt your eyes in a presentation?

    Hey Calum, enjoying your tips!

I’d love it if people thought about ambient lighting when they chose their colour scheme.
That black background with white text looks really great on a computer screen, but if the room can’t be darkened your audience won’t be able to make out the text it properly.

I wish people would use a basic white background with black text if they knew (or even suspected!) that they won’t have control over the lighting in the room!

    That’s so true.

And although a white background with black text can be good in a bright room. When placed in a pitch black room, that same white background can be painfully bright.

Mmm i believe that lemon yellow and dark blue are the easiest colours to have as your background/text, and red and black are one of the worst.
