Testimony

This is the story of how God has worked in my life.

Bible

I’ve been brought up in a Christian family which has been one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I thank God for it. My parents took me to sunday school from an early age and have taught me about the Bible. So I would not say that there is a single time in my life when God brought me into a relationship with him. But there have been a few instances when I could see God working to change me.

The first of these was in a year 7 Christian studies class, when my teacher asked the Christians in the class to question their faith if they had not done so before. God made me really think about Christianity and I started to really take my faith for myself, and not just something I was told was true, but something that I believed was true.

The second of these was when I was in year 9 at a youth surge in the city at St Andrews. The speaker there was basically talking about giving your life to Christ and what that means, and he suggested that why not decide to serve God full time, and commit all of your life to him. God worked in me that night and convinced me that I needed to serve him in all my life. I don’t really know how that will take look in the future, but I know that through whatever I do, I will do it for God.

The third moment was on a camp called brightwaters at the start of year 10. On the last night of this camp God convinced me of the love that Christ has for me. On this night, there was a song being sung that was based around the words of Philippians 2:1-11, with pictures of Jesus being crucified in the background. God worked in me through these words, and convinced me that Jesus loves me. He came from heaven to earth, and then humbled himself to the cross, so that I can be made right with God. I am still amazed by this fact today.

Since then, God has continued to work through me to change him to be more like Christ. He has done this through church, school, Yr 13 and now through Uni ministries. I thank God for the opportunities that he has given me, and all that he has done for me.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 2:9-11
